Monday, October 13, was Casey's 33rd Birthday. He had a really long day and the weather was very gloomy. For a birthday, it wasn't "full of fun or excitement", says he. Growing up and even now, birthdays are always very special,a big deal and most of the time, spent with family. We weren't able to be with extended family but our little family was more than enough to have a birthday party and make a big deal out of his day. We were cooken' something special for him when he arrived home. We had birthday Cookie Cake, a huge favorite of Casey's, on Saturday with his parents and sister. Casey also doesn't care for too many sweets but his all time favorite is CHOCOLATE! The kids and I decided to make chocolate cupcakes and decorate them especially for him. Camden and Jadyn are always very good about helping. Anytime they can be of service, they are. Camden wanted me to let him "Do all the work." So, I figured, why not, no one but us are going to partake in eating the cupcakes, what do we have to lose :) haha. He started with the cake mix, added the oil, water and then we hit an all time high. We broke eggs and mixed with a hand mixer. He laughed when I showed him how to hold the eggs and how to pull them apart without putting shells in. "Ohhhh, that's yuck but I want to do it again." He did it two more times and then the kitchen "power tools" came to life. He really did a great job. Cam was very careful and watched to get all the powders mixed with the liquids. Then we put the batter into the pumpkin paper tins and waited for them to bake. When they were pulled out, we decided to take Casey out to eat.
Casey's favorite food is seafood. We aren't familiar with Abilene's seafood, so Red Lobster was the final vote, given by Camden. He loves cheddar biscuits, so that's how we made up our minds :) haha. After a nice dinner, as a family with no spilled drinks, no food on our clothes and no fighting, we returned home. Jadyn's part of the baking was here. Camden was carefully giving instructions about putting the right amount of icing on each cupcake and then telling Jadyn which decoration was to go on which cupcake. She too did a great job. As you can see, we had Halloween decor. instead of birthday to make it more festive. We all sang "Happy Birthday, Daddy" and downed the cupcakes. Casey really enjoyed the evening and so did we. If you ever need a mixer, call me and Camden will be right over. He even loads the dirty dishes into the dishwasher. Pretty impressive!
